Elting serves on the Trinity College Board of Trustees, and is a regular speaker at both NYU and Columbia Business Schools. Elting holds an MBA in Finance and International Business from The Stern School of Business at New York University and a BA in Modern Languages and Literatures from Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
Phil Shawe co-founded TransPerfect in 1992. Today, TransPerfect is a global family of companies and the world’s largest privately held provider of language and business services. Shawe oversees the day-to-day operations of the company, headquartered in New York City.

In 2008, Shawe was named to the prestigious “40 Under 40 list” by Crain’s New York Business. Shawe has spoken at New York University and Columbia University, and is a member of the Association for a Better New York (ABNY). Prior to his career in the language services industry, Shawe was a Financial Analyst at Chemical Bank and a Global Custody Consultant at Merrill Lynch. Shawe holds an MBA in Finance and International Business from New York University's Stern School of Business, and he received his BS from the University of Florida where he triple majored in Finance, Marketing, and Risk Management.
Senior Vice President – Sales
Kevin Obarski, Senior Vice President of North America, joined TransPerfect's Atlanta office in 2001 as a Director of Business Development. Within months, Obarski was generating record-breaking revenues. His impressive sales performance was matched by an outstanding ability to motivate and lead other members of the TransPerfect sales team. Today, he oversees a full staff of regional directors, directors of business development, and account managers in TransPerfect's key US offices. Prior to joining TransPerfect, Obarski was Corporate Sales Manager for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA. He holds a BA from the University of Florida with a double major in Finance and Management.
Vice President, Client Solutions
Michael Edwards joined TransPerfect Remote Interpreting in January of 2013. In his role as Vice President of Client Solutions, Michael is responsible for the execution of TRI’s new business sales, strategic account services, and strategic partnerships and plans.
Michael came to TRI from CyraCom International, Inc. where he was the Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. At CyraCom, Michael was responsible for creating the Voiance line of business, which diversified the CyraCom focus into the commercial language services market. Michael has over 25 years of experience successfully creating and leading high performance sales and account management organizations, effectively serving the Fortune 500. Michael has held executive leadership positions with Xerox, ConferTech International, and MCI Communications.
Vice President of Technology
Christopher Patten serves as the Vice President of Technology for the Technology division of TransPerfect. In this role, Christopher is responsible for driving the strategic direction and execution of all technology areas within the remote interpreting division. Prior to joining the TransPerfect team, Christopher was the Chief Technology Officer at Voiance\CyraCom International for eight years. During that time, he drove dramatic technology changes which were recognized by multiple industry awards, such as the InfoWorld 100 Award for driving innovative use of technology within healthcare communications, and the Microsoft Excellence in Innovation Award.
Christopher has over 20 years of experience within network and software environments, including a key focus on VoIP communications. He managed the technology infrastructure for multiple contact center locations for multiple companies including Keane and Convergys Corporation, handling volume for clients such as Microsoft, Dell, SBC, and AT&T. Christopher has received numerous industry certifications including MCSE, CCNA, and MCT, along with internal Microsoft training endorsements received during years spent teaching student certification courses for CTECs (Certified Technical Education Centers).
Director of Linguistic Services
Jonathan Levy is the Director of Linguistic Services at TransPerfect Remote Interpreting, where he oversees all interpreter testing, training, and quality initiatives. Jonathan’s expertise lies in the development and implementation of interpreter testing, training, and quality solutions for both remote and on-site operations. He has extensive experience working with healthcare, legal, education and defense/intelligence organizations, is a commissioner on the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI), and has overseen development projects for the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center and the Fund for Improvement of Post-Secondary Education, among others.
Jonathan has held previous positions as Director of Language Services at CyraCom International, the Assistant Director of the University of Arizona’s National Center for Interpretation, and the President and Founder of his own language service startup. He is a former teacher of History, English, and ESL, and holds a master’s degree in Cultural Studies from the University of Arizona and a bachelor’s degree in East Asian History from the University of Chicago.
Director of Call Center Operations
Doug Lowry, Director of Operations, is a proven operations executive with over 20 years of experience reengineering operations to successfully meet business goals. His expertise encompasses all facets of contact center operations, consistently delivering performance gains in productivity, quality, and sales. Doug’s expertise in transforming operations into scalable and sustainable world-class contact centers has been achieved through development of direct reports, leveraging technology, establishing revealing metrics, implementing improved processes, and providing compelling cultural environments.
Doug is a certified PCI Professional Internal Security Assessor. Prior to his role of Director of Operations for TransPerfect Remote Interpreting, he ran contact center operations for Endurance International Group, Micros Systems Inc., and Carlson Wagonlit Travel.
Customer Implementation Supervisor
Michael Watkins is the Customer Implementation Supervisor for TransPerfect Remote Interpreting. He manages the implementation of OPI and VRI services with the end customer for all phases of onboarding and training. He works directly with TransPerfect’s sales team and other internal departments to initiate service for all clients. Prior to joining TransPerfect, Mike worked in bilingual financial and customer service management roles, including Stockbroker and Assistant Compliance Manager positions with Series 6, 7, and 63 licenses.
Mike received his Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish from Arizona State University.
